Things You'll Need to Get Rid of Cracked Heels Fast:

1Banish dull and dry cracked heels with exfoliation.

exfoliate-cracked-heels

Exfoliate the cracked skin on your feet with a loofah, pumice stone or small brush.

Or, you can use my favorite foot file, the Amope Pedi Perfect to buff away your thick hard skin and reveal touchably soft and smooth feet.

How to Use: Place batteries in the unit, attach a coarse roller and within two to five minutes it will remove all the rough, hard and dead skin from both feet! The Amope Pedi Perfect simple, it's fast, it's gentle and (most importantly) it's painless!

For best results, press the file gently across the bottom of your feet. If you push too hard, the file will stop working. Also, use the foot file with a towel beneath your feet before smoothing away your callouses and to capture the fine powdery residue of all the dead skin you'll remove!

2Hydrate after your exfoliate to cure dry, cracked feet.

soak your feet to soften your cracked heels

Fill a small tub with warm water. If you don't have a container, fill a little bucket with lukewarm water.

Place both of your feet into the warm water for 10 minutes.

If you want a scented foot bath, pamper and treat your cracked heels with two drops of lemon or lavender oil for an aromatic soak.

3Cover your feet with olive oil, almond oil or your favorite scented oil.

Treating your dry hands with oil will help rehydrate and fix cracked heels.

Rub and massage the oil into your nail bed and cuticles for a diy foot moisturizer to get rid of dry, cracked heels.

After you slather your soles with the massage oil, slip into a pair of cotton socks. If you don't want to purchase moisture retention socks, you can create the same effect at home.

The cotton socks will trap moisture in, help fix any cracked skin and keep any dirt from sticking to the bottoms of your feet.

Leave your diy moisturizing socks on overnight to help with fixing cracked heels.

4Add another layer of oil or your favorite hand or foot moisturizer before placing your feet into small plastic bags.

Add small plastic bags to your feet. Re-submerge your feet into a tub filled with warm water,  for another 5 to ten minutes.

Apply a thick layer of lotion or Vaseline to your feet to complete your mini-foot rejuvenation ritual. Wrap your feet in Saran wrap.

Let the Saran wrap or plastic wrap and the lotion remain your feet for 20 minutes, to add another layer of moisture to your dry skin.  Remove the wrap and discard.

Or if your feet need extra help, try wrapping feet in plastic wrap overnight.

Can I sleep with plastic wrap on my feet?

The heat from the plastic wrap will allow the lotion. cream, or Vaseline to soak into your heels and break down your dry, cracked skin and rough calluses.

Before heading to bed, cover your feet with cotton socks to seal in moisture and heal cracked heels.

5Use diaper-rash cream to soothe and seal cracked heels.

Skin that is cracked requires more moisture than a basic body lotion provides.

Diaper rash cream has heavy moisturizers (paraffin, beeswax, and petrolatum) that form a protective barrier against the conditions that cause dry and cracked heels.

By using a heavy skin cream, you give your feet a chance to heal as they soften.

6To get rid of cracked heels fast, stop walking in bare heels.cracked heels caused by walking in bare feet

Walking around in bare feet–whether on hardwood floors or carpets–is the biggest enemy of smooth heels.

Cracked heels flourish because the direct pressure from your weight connecting with the hard floor surface causes the unsightly cracked appearance.

To remedy this problem, always wear shoes or thick socks when walking around your house.

7If rough and cracked heels remain, soften rough skin with yogurt.

A foot mask made with whole-milk yogurt has a secret ingredient: lactic acid. The acid boosts collagen and exfoliates dry and rough skin.

Apply 1/2 cup of cold, full-fat yogurt to your clean skin. Leave on as a mask for 10 minutes and rinse with cold water.

The Best Products & Creams to Heal Cracked Feet

1.Flexitol Heel Balmflexitol heel repair

I've tried every remedy to fix my heels, and this cracked feet cream is one of the best.

The Flexitol heel and foot treatment contains a 25% concentration of chemically synthesized urea and is clinically proven to soften and repair rough, dry, and cracked skin.

The lanolin and petrolatum in the product provide a barrier to hold moisture in, keeping your skin soft and smooth. Apply the balm to dry feet twice daily after you've trimmed down your callused heels with a foot file.

If you have early signs of diabetic feet, Flexitol is gentle enough for diabetic and general foot care.

Typically, when I apply this daily and overnight with cotton socks, I see significant results in one to two weeks of use. You'll see traces if smooth skin after your first 8-hour, overnight treatment, but it does not work as fast as the Glytone cream.

2. Glytone Ultra Softening Heel and Elbow Creamthe best cream to fix diabetic feet

If you want to go from painful cracks in your heels to smooth, snag-free feet, this miracle-working product is the answer to your problems.

And if you are traveling to a summer wedding, prepping for sandal season or need to fix your heels in 24 to 48 hours, Glytone is the best thing for dry feet. Most importantly: A little goes a long way; one small jar lasts 12 months.

Here's how to apply the cream. Soak your feet in a tub filled with warm water for 10-15 minutes. Rub the rough skin off your weet feet using a foot file or a pumice stone. Rub off as much dry skin as possible, without irritating or harming your feet. Apply the Glytone Cream to your damp feet using gloves.

Dry the tops of your feet with a towel, and put on a clean pair of cotton socks to adhere the product to your skin. And leave the socks on for at least 8 hours or overnight.

Depending on how thick your heel skin is, this callus removing process can take between 3 days to several months depending on the thickness of the soles of your feet.

But, I'm warning you; this product is not an inexpensive or cheap option. But it is worth EVERY penny if you want FAST results.

Important Note: If any irritation develops when using Glytone, let your skin heal before you resume any callus-smoothing treatments.

Before using this cream, you need to know that it is a 30 percent glycolic acid cream, which means that this product is extremely STRONG.  If you don't follow the steps outlined above ( dampen feet, using gloves to apply, wearing socks, etc.), this cream WILL be too strong and could burn and irritate your skin.

Final Get Rid of Cracked Heels Tips

  • File dry and cracked heels with a foot file or a pumice stone after a bath or shower, when skin is its softest.
  • Liquid removers–which contain salicylic acid to shrink the dead skin gradually–work well to remove calluses on the feet.  However, some people are allergic to this remedy. So apply a small amount to your dry heels before attempting to remove a large callused area.
  • When visiting the nail salon for a pedicure, bring your own pumice stone and do not let the pedicurist razor your feet. If the tools have not been properly cleaned, you run the risk of getting an infection.

Pamper your tootsies every week with this simple treatment, to encourage cell turnover cycle and decrease dullness and lines in the skin. With a tub of warm water and olive oil, you can get rid of cracked heels and keep people guessing your secret skin treatment.
